Tatiana Kvyatkovska is a Doctor of Medical Sciences and Professor of the Operative Surgery and Topographic Anatomy Course at the Department of Urology, Operative Surgery and Topographic Anatomy, Dnipropetrovsk Medical Academy (renamed Dnipro State Medical University in 2021).
Her main research interests are the morphology and urodynamics of the upper urinary tract, the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the kidneys and urinary tract, and minimally invasive and organ-sparing interventions on the genitourinary organs. Using light, scanning and transmission electron microscopy, electrophysiology, biomechanics, X-ray diffraction analysis and ultrasonography, she studied the structure and function of the upper urinary tract. She proposed a model of the motor activity of the renal pelvis and ureter and clarified the role of reflex interconnections and the effects of a number of physiologically active substances and drugs on the function of different parts of the upper urinary tract and the urinary bladder. She investigated electrical pulse stimulation and drug stimulation of the upper urinary tract for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes in obstructive uropathies and after reconstructive surgery. She developed a method of recording biopotentials from the renal pelvis in experiments, a method of impedance ureterography, Doppler indices for the ultrasound assessment of renal venous blood flow, and a model for studying ureteral jets. With her co-authors she developed algorithms for the ultrasound diagnosis of acute and chronic obstructive uropathies and pyelonephritis based on Doppler assessment of renal arterial and venous blood flow and of upper urinary tract urodynamics (monograph by Ye. A. Kvyatkovsky and T. O. Kvyatkovska “Ultrasonography and Doppler ultrasonography in the diagnosis of kidney diseases”, 2005). Together with Yevhen Kvyatkovsky, Candidate of Medical Sciences, she took part in introducing the Ukrainian uroflowmeter “Flow-K” into practice (device and software developed by Oleksandr Kvyatkovsky, MSc, 2009). She is the author of more than 300 publications, including 6 monographs, 6 inventions and patents, and 3 information letters.
